A New Approach to Public Safety

Enforcing Our Laws While Integrating People Back into Our Community

If we do not feel safe in our homes and on our streets, we will be unable to build a future for ourselves and our children. Some of our local politicians are quietly working to de-fund the police because they see them as our opponents rather than our allies. I will work to ensure our police officers have the resources and legal support they need to protect our lives and property. Criminals, as well as our police, should be held accountable for their actions, and our laws should be enforced.

My plan to replace our system of welfare and entitlements with a $16,000 per year universal basic income will provide everyone with the freedom and motivation to take responsibility for their lives. A key aspect of my plan is the way in which it grants everyone a stake in the system, encouraging them to make responsible decisions. Because the universal basic income would be paid as a direct deposit into every individual’s bank account, our justice system will be able to easily enforce fines, civil judgments, and child support payments by garnishing the monthly basic income payment. Consequently, those people who today engage in petty crimes or owe child support would have an immediate reason to avoid such behavior under my plan; they will want to protect their basic income. Instead of a system that penalizes work and savings, we would have one that rewards responsible decision-making.

With your help, I can work to ensure public safety and help our communities to thrive.
