A U.S. National Debt Crisis Is Coming - The Wall Street Journal
Our politicians are ignoring the problem.
William A. Galston at the Wall Street Journal warns of the dangers of our increasing national debt and the failure of politicians to address it: https://www.wsj.com/opinion/a-u-s-national-debt-crisis-is-coming-policy-politics-6e189256?st=AGRV6D
My campaign has been about discussing the real problems that we face as a country: the spiraling national debt, the coming insolvency of Social Security and Medicare, and the failure of our welfare system to end poverty. My common-sense solution is to phase out our welfare and entitlement programs and use this money to create a universal basic income of $16,000 per year for everyone 21 years and older. My plan addresses the debt problem directly by saving over $1 trillion per year over the existing system on a steady-state basis. At the same time, it preserves Social Security and Medicare benefits for anyone 37 and older and provides economic opportunity for the needy, working families, and young people. Even if you do not agree with all the details of my plan, please support me in starting a long overdue conversation about these pressing problems.
Please pass on my message to friends, family, and neighbors.
